In the fall the ships sail south along the eastern seaboard of the United States and sail throughout Caribbean in the winter and spring months. In the late spring the ships sail north for the summer season in New England. All three ships carry a licensed captain, licensed mates, deckhands, educator(s) and a cook. Each OCF vessel carries an educator in addition to the professional crew to help deliver the more academic aspects of sail training. OCF educators work with the education director, crew and program leaders to deliver a multidisciplinary educational program that meets the goals of Ocean Classroom Foundation and their participating program partners. Educators hold formal and informal classes aboard the ship on varied maritime and marine topics, ranging from basic oceanography to maritime history.

Ocean Classroom also employs humanities and science educators during the academic school year. For more information regarding educator positions contact the education director at 207-633-2750 x104 or email  agraham@oceanclassroom.org.
